Honey Jerk Meatballs

Looking for a twist to liven up meatballs? Give this honey jerk meatball recipe a try!  It's a easy savory spin on meatballs.  You can choose to make this spicy or mild and the honey gives it a truly special taste.  This is a great appetizer, dinner, and party recipe!

Ingredients
  • 1/3 cup chopped green bell pepper
  • 1/3 cup chopped red bell pepper
  • 1/3 cup chopped onion
  • 1 scallion (chopped)
  • 2 lb ground turkey
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs (plain)
  • 2 tsp dry jerk seasoning
  • 1/2 tbsp wet jerk seasoning
  • 2 tsp all purpose seasoning
  • 1 egg
  • Honey Jerk Sauce
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/4 cup chopped red onion
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp wet jerk seasoning
  • 1/2 tbsp dry jerk seasoning
  • 2 tbsp bbq sauce
  • 2 tbsp water
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 400° Chop peppers, onion and scallion. Add the chopped veggies to a large bowl with ground turkey.
  2. Add all seasonings (dry jerk, wet jerk, and all purpose),then add bread crumbs and egg. Mix all ingredients by hand until well combined.
  3. Form meatballs by rolling into balls (16-20). Place a sheet of foil on a large cookie sheet and then place the meatballs on the foil. Drizzle olive oil over the meatballs and place in the oven uncovered for 25 minutes.
  4. Honey Jerk Sauce
  5. While the meatballs are baking start on the sauce by adding olive oil to skillet, once oil is hot add the chopped red onions and minced garlic. Saute 2-3 minutes
  6. Add honey, bbq sauce, jerk seasonings, and water. Mix well while cooking on low heat ( no longer than 5 minutes) Remove from heat.
  7. Once done, remove the meatballs from the oven and pour sauce over the meatballs. You can serve with rice, pasta, or potatoes.

  • I used a mild jerk seasoning but feel free to more spice if you like
