Instructions
- Add about 2 tablespoons of olive oil to a large pan or skillet and heat on medium-high. Add Italian sausage to heated oil and crumble sausage until brown. Once crumbled sausage is browned, drain and place into a bowl to hold for a moment.
- Place the peppers, Italian and basil seasonings, and sugar along with a pinch of salt and pepper in the pan. Stir to combine, and saute for 2 minutes or until slightly tender.
- Next, add in the fresh minced garlic. Once it becomes aromatic, add in the white wine and cooked until mixture has become slightly reduced.
- Add in the can of diced tomatoes including it's juice. Add 3 tablespoons of olive oil to sauce and stir. Return the browned crumbled sausage back into pan and gently fold into mixture to combine. Let simmer for about 3 minutes to combine the flavors. Turn heat off and keep warm while preparing the noodles.
- Cook noodles according to instructions on package, then drain very well. Add the drained noodles directly into the sauce, and gently toss. Check the sauce to see if you need to add any additional seasoning. Top and garnish with Parmesan and parsley if you desire and serve.
Notes
- You can top with Parmesan if desired
- You can use fresh basil instead
