Salisbury Steak

This Salisbury steak recipe is a great comfort food with hand patted ground beef smothered in gravy, mushrooms, and onions ready in just about 30 minutes.  I consider this an easy homemade recipe that has been a classic for many years.  Easy to make in one skillet and delicious enough to satisfy your family.

  • Gravy

  • In a large bowl with your hands combine ground beef, egg, breadcrumbs, and Worcestershire sauce
  • Form ground beef into oval shaped patties
  • heat olive oil, and add the patties to the heated oil. Cook about 3-4 minutes per side, remove, place on plate and set aside.
  • Gravy
  • Add the flour to the skillet (with the drippings remaining) whisk until there a no lumps.
  • Add beef stock and soy sauce to the skillet and whisk until smooth or desired consistency
  • Add the mushrooms and sliced onions into the gravy and cook low for 2-3 minutes stirring occasionally.
  • Add the partially cooked beef patties to the gravy mixture while spooning gravy over each pattie until cooked through about 4-5 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and let stand 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

This Salisbury steak recipe pairs well with mashed potatoes Ground turkey can be used instead
